Deputy Editor of the Champion Newspaper, Bisiriyu Olaoye, is dead.
Platforms Africa reports that Olaoye died on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, three days after his 64th birthday. His remains have been committed to mother earth according to the Islamic rites.
He was, according to update on his verified Facebook page, born on February 9, 1961.
Wife of the deceased, Sukurat Olaoye, who confirned this in a statement, maintained the Fidau (Muslim prayer) would come up at the deceased’s Ota home on Wednesday, February 19.

Family source earlier told Platforms Africa that the late journalist Slumped in his home located few kilometers from The Bells University Ota before he died.
Meanwhile, announcing the eight-day prayer organised by the family for the deceased, the statement read that the late Deputy Editor, Champion newspaper would be honoured with a special prayer on Wednesday, 19th February 2025.
“Venue is 21 Alhaji Busari Street, the Bells bus stop along Ota –Idi Iroko Expressway Ota, Ogun state,” statement read.
